Six Steps to Choosing the Right Fort Worth Pool Builder for You

Deciding to get a new pool is a large investment and other than buying a home – it is often the largest purchase that most homeowners will make. That is why it is important to carefully evaluate and consider the pool builder that you choose. Look into their qualifications and the quality of the work that they can bring to your backyard. Here are 6 tips for choosing the right pool builder.

1. Experience

When pool projects go south, builder experience (or rather inexperience) is often at the root of the problem. When it comes to building a new swimming pool, there is no substitute for experience as it allows the pool builder to competently navigate the construction process, from design to start-up, prepared for any potential problems that could arise. An experienced pool builder will also have the expertise to help you translate your vision and style into a pool design that matches your lifestyle and budget requirements.

We’ve been building custom pools and spas in Fort Worth and Plano since 1981.

2. Quality

A quality pool builder must be willing to listen to your needs and deliver an end product that achieves your design goals within your set budget.

They should listen to all of your ideas and requirements and be able to walk you through the entire pool design process, setting realistic expectations that will decrease the chances of unpleasant surprises. They are up front about their construction methods and materials, ensuring the quality of their work with a warranty.

Pool warranties vary greatly, so it’s important you understand your builder’s warranty up front. If their warranty only covers pool equipment, and not their work, this could indicate poor craftsmanship. Discuss your concerns and needs up front so that you know what you are getting for your money.

Ask about their construction crew. It is common among Fort Worth pool builders to use sub-contractors. While this method may work for some builders, it can make it more difficult to control the quality of work. If the builder is using subs, find out what kind of oversite they receive from the builder’s team.

Riverbend Sandler uses our own in-house crew made up of experienced craftsmen. Our Lifetime Warranty demonstrates our confidence in our product.

3. Reputation

Always research the reputation of your pool builder. Visit popular listings and review sites – like Yelp or Angie’s List. Check to see if they have a good rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and look at their Facebook page for comments and reviews. This research takes about 30 minutes online, but could save you big heartache and money down the road.

At Riverbend Sandler, we strive to create lifelong customer relationships. Read what our customers have to say about us here!

4. Recognition and association

Has your potential pool builder been recognized for their work? Have they been awarded recommendations based on their designs or customer service? Ask if they are a member of any industry associations. Active involvement in an industry or trade association shows that they are committed to keeping up with the latest changes in the pool industry.

We were recently ranked among the Top 50 Pool Builders in the country. Our award-winning designers maintain active involvement in the nation’s leading pool industry associations. Learn more about our industry associations here!

5. Insurance

When you decide to have a pool installed at your home, you are opening yourself up to the possibility of something going wrong/ Water lines could be erupted, power lines may be cut, and issues could persist. While it is a pool builders job to keep issues to a minimum, it is reassuring to know that your pool contractor is properly insured, in the event that it is needed.

We are fully bonded and insured and make this information available for your peace of mind.

6. Equipment

Another thing to consider is whether your potential pool builder has the tools and the manpower to undertake your project. This is essential to ensuring quality and a smooth construction project with minimal delays.
